INDUSTRY AND ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT AWARD FOR BMAC
27th Nov 2006
The awards were presented by Pat Farmer MP, on behalf of Mark Vaile,
Deputy Prime Minister.
Industry and Enterprise Development – Winner: Blue Mountains Artists Company
A tiny band of dedicated members have transformed the Blue Mountains
Artists Network into the Blue Mountains Artists Company, with
extensive professional support from Freehills, establishing the Board and
structure of the organisation . The modest RP funding of $18,700
supported this work and with other funding from Blue Mountains City
Council also delivered the Blue Mountains Artists Studio Trail website
and gorgeous guidebook detailing the artists featured on the
website and giving examples of their work.
The project activities have assisting in expanding the Company’s
membership to over 180 practising artists from all genres and
geographic areas across the Mountains. Working with the local Business community and the Australian Business Arts Foundation, marketing of local
work has been significantly enhanced, accessing opportunities long dreamed
of but now a reality. The most recent success has been the partnership
with a prominant local businessman who has recently announced a significant
Arts prize available to members of the Company.
Art in the Blue Mountains has always been recognised as a significant
industry – now it has a vehicle to drive it! Congratulations Blue Mountains Arts Company!”
