Art Therapy with Wendy Tsai

Art workshops for business, organisation or community teams. The workshops provide opportunity for small groups to process and reflect on relationships, goals, interactions, while also giving insight to abilities and ways people manage stress or opportunity in the workplace. The art making is non-threatening and enjoyable while also a powerful tool for developing personal and relational understanding. Workshops facilitated by a registered art therapist. Art Workshops at Waragil Studios

“This weekend wil involve the procedure I follow in my own painting practice. The landscape will be the main subject matter demonstrated, but still life and figurative work will also be covered. A student’s level of art experience is of little relevance for this workshop. In the cause of students pursuing their own personal directions, I believe the greatest assistance I can give is on a one to one basis, and so the class size will be kept to a maximum of ten students.”
John Caldwell’s art workshops conducted at his Blackheath Waragil Studios are much sought after by enthusiastic students who want to learn from an internationally renowned artist.
Anyone interested in attending this informative and fun workshops may contact John at waragil@lisp.com.au, Fax 02 4787 6326 or write to PO Box 58, Blackheath 2785

Photography Workshops with Petr Malek

Using the camera as a creative tool means going beyond point-and-shoot.
This workshop is about seeing and understanding what it is that we photograph, and expressing ourselves through photography; it’s about trusting ourselves and being willing to take risks. It does not matter if you photograph using a film or digital camera, what matters is how you see and record an image to take it beyond the snapshot. Next progression is to learn to interpret the image through the darkroom process or digital manipulation. We offer workshops in:
- Basic camera operation and exposure
- Development of B&W negative and proofing
- Darkroom introduction
- Fine art printing and advanced darkroom manipulation
- Alternative techniques printing such as: Bleach and re-development , split toning , chemical solarization, lith printing, Mordancage and Polaroid transfers to name a few.
Workshops are available during the week and on some weekends. (Accommodation and full board is available)
Please contact Petr on 02 4754 1959 or nadpet@iprimus.com.au for reservation and pricing.
Jewellery Workshops at Sondi's Studio

Sondi’s custom-made jewellery is well-loved and collected not only by Blue Mountains cognoscenti but by lovers of beautiful contemporary jewellery Australia-wide.
Sondi’s schedule alternates between busy solitude when she works on her speciality lines, and the sociable weekend workshops held monthly, when she shares her skills and her excellent workshop with two people who wish to learn about jewellery making. No previous experience is necessary.
Recent participants expected to make one item of jewellery each over the two-day work-shop – usually this is a beautiful silver ring. In just the first day, Andrew completed and embellished an elegant man’s ring and both participants had set about designing and, under Sondi’s knowledgeable eye, actually completed unique pieces of silver neckware and an art deco brooch.
Sondi enjoys these occasions as much as her proteges, sharing in their excitement at learning a new skill and their pleasure on leaving with a professionally finished piece of jewellery.
