haiku
In the graveyard
beside all the white people
Werriberri dreams
They’re calling us
over and over
the hidden birds

I taught a “Journey through Blackheath ” haiku course in Blackheath in August, during the windy weather. Blackheath Area Neighbourhood Centre hosted this day.
Here are some haiku which the students wrote:
_playing hide and seek
on empty swimming pools
the wintry sun
up a frosted path
grass burnt green and yellow
small birds spy me_
Annmarie Chandler
_strutting black-white magpie
lord of all he surveys
an empty picnic ground
wood bridge over still water
a rising wind
annoys the trees_
