ABOUT THE ARTIST
Fiona Lumsden grew up at Mt Wilson in the Blue Mountains where she developed a love for the flora and fauna of the surrounding wilderness. She currently lives in Katoomba.
She has been studying, illustrating and painting Australian wildlife and plants for over 30 years. For her originals she uses watercolours, pastels, inks and pencil on 100% rag watercolour paper. She has also created a large range of affordable prints of her artworks.
She has had two solo exhibitions: at The Australian Museum Sydney (1987) and at Hunters Hill Sydney (1998).
She is an experienced illustrator, and has illustrated 4 books to date. She has recently begun a range of regional bird posters featuring over 100 species on each, in habitat. So far they cover the Blue Mtns & Capertee Valley.
She has been an exhibiting member of the Botanical Art Society of Australia and the Wildlife Artists Society of Australasia; she has won the Thomas Nelson Australia award
for best drawing with WASA.
