Kim Banffy painter, printmaker. mosaics and tromp l’oeil murals.
Kim, has taught art and music in the mountains for nineteen years and has recently spent more time exploring her own art and music.
Kim’s collographs and etchings have been praised for their delicate and well-balanced design, and her abstract paintings for their bold use of colour. She displays an ability to capture the image of her portrait subjects, and has recently been a regular entrant in the Portia Geach Portrait Prize, the Archibald and the Wynne Prize at the Art Gallery of NSW.
She has been a recipient of three Blue Mountains City of the Arts grants for her work with young people, including a mentorship programme which culminated in a sell-out exhibition of Kim’s work and successful sales for her student at Braemar gallery.
Kim is in increasing demand for her tromp l’oeil murals, with completed projects as far afield as Sawpit Creek Education Centre in the Snowy Mountains, the central coast of NSW and West Virginia, USA.
Kim enjoys exploring new media and likes the notion of change being a sign of growth.
