Blue Mountains Artists Connection: Member Profile

Lorraine Droga

Mists of Time

In 1992 Lorraine came to live in the Blue Mountains intending to write the great Australian novel but reignited her passion for painting instead. In the ensuing years she established herself as a highly regarded artist in both the Blue Mountains and further afield.

Lorraine is probably best known for her moody watercolour landscapes. For these she is constantly inspired by the wonderfully distinct seasonal changes around her and steps outside the traditional approach to watercolours to bring a unique impressionistic touch to her work.

Although watercolours are her main focus, she also enjoys experimenting with coloured inks and mixed media and these provide an adventurous dimension to the work she produces.

Lorraine has discovered that life in the mountains presents boundless creative opportunities. She currently exhibits her art work on a permanent basis in the delightful Gallery Lane Art Gallery in Railway Parade Leura and plans to publish a collection of her short stories in early 2008.

Gallery Lane Art Gallery is open every Saturday and Sunday and all public holidays from 11am to 4pm. Lorraine can sometimes be found painting in the gallery studio space during the week. If the lights are on in the gallery then an artist is at work!
